About the role
*Butcher Part Time – Summerseat Garden Centre *
*Location:* On-site at Summerseat Garden Centre, Railway Street, Summerseat, Bury BL9 5QD | Hours: Part Time (Friday, Saturday & Sunday including some Tuesdays)
We are looking for a passionate Butcher to join our butchers counter at Summerseat Garden Centre. As a Butcher, you’ll take pride in producing high-quality cuts and products, creating a fantastic counter display, providing excellent service to our customers, and maintaining the highest standards of food safety.
*What You’ll Be Doing *
- Carry out day-to-day butchery tasks, including cutting, trimming, and preparing meat to specification.
- Break down carcasses (beef, pork, lamb) with accuracy and care.
- Setting up and take down of the Butchers Counter
- Maintain excellent standards of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness at all times.
- Serve customers with a friendly, knowledgeable approach, building trust and rapport.
- Support stock rotation, product displays, and correct pricing.
- Work as part of the butchery team to meet customer demand and business goals.
*What We’re Looking For *
- Previous experience in a retail butchery environment.
- Carcass breakdown and cutting skills.
- Experience in sausage and burger preparation is desirable.
- Strong understanding of different meat cuts and preparation methods.
- Good customer service and communication skills.
- Commitment to maintaining high food safety and hygiene standards.
- A positive, reliable, and hardworking attitude.
- Passion for the butchery trade and willingness to learn and improve.
