About the role
*Department:* Manufacturing / Precision Assembly *Reports To:* Indicator Assembly Supervisor *Position Type:* Full-Time/Part-Time
*Position* *Overview: *
We are seeking a detail-oriented, patient, and hands-on *Precision Mechanical Assembler* to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling delicate micro-mechanical movements for high-precision dial indicators.
Because our components are exceptionally small and fragile, this position requires high manual dexterity, steady hands, and meticulous attention to detail. No prior dial indicator experience is required—we are looking for a motivated individual with a strong *willingness to learn* our specialized assembly processes through comprehensive on-the-job training. Key Responsibilities
- Assemble micro-mechanical components (miniature gear trains, hairsprings, levers, jewel bearings, and pointers) into precision dial indicator housings using specialized hand tools and microscopic aids.
- Utilize precision hand tools, including fine tweezers, jewelers' screwdrivers, pin vises, and optical magnifiers/stereo microscopes.
- Perform fine mechanical adjustments, alignment checks, and delicate tensioning to ensure smooth, friction-free movement.
- Inspect miniature parts for microscopic defects, dust, burrs, or alignment issues prior to and during assembly.
- Follow step-by-step assembly drawings, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality guidelines.
- Conduct basic functional checks and preliminary calibration testing on completed movement assemblies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, contamination-free workstation to protect sensitive internal mechanisms.
*Key Attributes & Skills:*
- *Exceptional Hand-Eye Coordination & Fine Motor Skills:* Ability to manipulate, align, and position parts smaller than a pinhead without damage.
- *Strong Willingness to Learn:* Eager to acquire niche micro-assembly techniques and adapt to precise manufacturing procedures.
- *Patience & Focus:* Able to perform steady, repetitive, micro-precision tasks requiring high levels of concentration over extended periods.
- *Quality Mindset:* High standard of workmanship with a keen eye for subtle defects or irregularities.
*Preferred Qualifications:*
- *Education:* High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- *Experience:* While previous experience in precision assembly, watchmaking, jewelry repair, electronics assembly, or fine crafting is a plus, *it is not required*. We will train the right candidate who possesses the required dexterity and attitude.
- *Technical Aptitude:* Comfort using basic measuring tools and reading visual assembly guides or engineering drawings.
*Physical Requirements & Work Environment:*
- Excellent visual acuity (corrected or uncorrected) suitable for fine-detail work under magnification.
- Ability to remain seated for extended periods at a micro-assembly bench.
- Steady hands capable of fine movement without tremors or excessive pressure.
